Mortar

  • Consistent performance, strength and colour
  • Consistent quality of cement, sand and additives, in the correct proportioning from batch to batch (conforms to AS3700)
  • Eliminating quality control concerns from contamination of sand on site and raw material variability
  • No batching errors by the labourer, decreasing reliance on on-site mortar preparation and eliminating rectification costs of out-of-spec mortar
  • Eliminating varying moisture levels in loam which could cause colour variation
  • Efficiency of mixing - just add water

If using a concrete mixer, add clean water per the instructions on the bag to the mixing vessel. Empty the Trade Mortar blend into the water and mix thoroughly. Start with the minimum amount of water to achieve a workable mix. Do not exceed the recommended amount as too much water weakens the mortar strength.

OR

if using a wheelbarrow, place the required amount of Trade Mortar into a wheelbarrow, plastic bucket or on a non-absorbent surface making a ‘well’ in the centre of the powder and add clean water per the instructions on the bag and mix thoroughly to obtain an even and consistent mix.

Note: Additional water may prolong setting and weaken the overall strength of the mortar.

Tip: Only mix as much mortar as you can use within one (1) hour.

Apply the mix with a trowel. Allow the Trade Mortar to stiffen to touch dry before attempting to rake or finishing the mortar joints.

Do not allow the mixed mortar to stand for an extended period of time, as re-tempering the mix with additional water will weaken the mortar.
